Happy Friday!!!  It's been one thing after another this week- 2 days without power- Monday it was the electric company's fault, on Wednesday we blew a breaker, and now we have no web site.  When it rains it pours- and I'm ready to pour myself a big glass of something.

I figured- let's turn this web site outage into a contest.  If anyone can guess the correct time our site will be back up and running you'll win a $10 gift certificate!  I'm not sure what time zone our server is situated in...so let's say that the exact time will be posted as Eastern Standard Time- UTC minus 5.

The hosting company just emailed me and apparently they said it will be back online by 21:30 this evening.  Not happy- but sometimes things just plain break, and take time to get fixed.  I'm sorry about this...I'm going through SN forum withdrawls myself- I miss you!

This was supposed to be a very cool blog post about our new skin care line...but our site is offline.  It's been down for most of the morning, and I've contacted tech support.  I'm a little worried because it's never been down this long.  I'll keep you updated.

It's finally on the site!!!  Our Spring 2009 collection. This one is clones...lots and lots of clones.  Because clones take quite a bit longer to make it's a smaller collection- but I think you'll really love it.

The overall theme was sheer- so sheer shimmery shadows, sheer blushes (omg- it's a blush ho's dream come true), and lippies.

There's also serums galore- and one new gumball- an oil control serum.  I have the driest skin in the world- so we really need your feedback on this one.  You're getting a nice 10 gram bottle of it for just $.50!!! 

The samples of everything are in the sample section in the new products category- it seemed easier for you to find them that way.

Oh there's more- 5 new lippies- I owe you guys some more, but stopped before I went totally crazy.

Spring is finally here, and I'm working on a lot of new projects!  It's time to have a bit of a sale to make room for the fun new items! 

I'm revamping our line of lippies- namely the lipsticks, and Kiss Bliss demi-gloss.  There are limited quantities of each of them available, and they're marked down to $4.45.   Some of the colors may make a return to the site a little later, but I can't guarantee which ones.

And the limited edition solid fragrances are marked down to $4.79.

Sooo...out with the old, and in with the new!  We have quite a few new things that I've added to the site recently.

Microdermabrasion Cream which is great for making your skin soft and smooth has been extremely popular.  Right now it's intro-priced at $8.95.

Loverly and Wonderful mark the debut of our cream blushes.  They are truly loverly and wonderful- very well pigmented, easy to blend, and very long lasting.  They're intro-priced at $6.99.

Untinted Blurs!!!!!  I know some of you have been waiting very patiently for these to arrive, and now they're here!!!

We've also added some new foundation color boosters, a pure yellow, and a pure green.  They're highly concentrated, and are great for fine-tuning your foundation blends.  We also have a new Olive foundation base!

So I'm working on the new Spring collection- the days are getting longer, and I just have the biggest hankering for some new colors!  With new colors it means making some room on the shelves, so we're retiring some colors to make room for some fun new ones.

I've added a couple of things to the site this week- an Olive foundation base, an untinted version of Blur, and drum roll...a glowier white foundation base.   The glowy foundation is a work in progress- I was shooting for something sorta like BE, but erred a bit more on the shimmery side- figuring that you can mix it with the other bases to get your perfect amount of dewiness.  The coverage level is a little bit more than our original coverage, but not as heavy as our medium cover.

Here's the list:
Blushes: Vixen, Cocoaberry, Jamie, Bronze Beauty, Blossom, and maybe Enchanting.  I'm keeping Strawberries and Champagne, and Rich on the site for another week- and then they're history too.

And this isn't a fun announcement- but a very necessary one.  We need to raise our prices a little bit.  We've been hit with some big increases in our overhead, and we need to do a slight bump in prices in order to keep up with the bills. Starting April 1 the blushes, Kisser Slicker glosses, and eye shadows will be increased by $.25 each.

So we've been getting a lot of product requests, and I just couldn't help myself.  There's gumballs (pre-release samples that are dirt cheap) of some very lovely hydrating serums.  Gumballs are small test samples of products that we're thinking of adding to the site.  We release a limited number of samples on a first-come first serve basis- so it's your chance to get something pretty cool for less than $1.00.  The serums are yummy- there's a green tea, a rose, a vitamin c, and a super anti-aging serum with DMAE, Peptides and Vitamin C.

I got a lot of requests for MAC's slimshine in Bare- so I cloned that along with Hunny Bunny by Eve Pearl.  There's some limited release flavored lippies- a decadent Devil's Food Cake, and a Peppermint, the introduction of our microdermabrasion cream, and sugar scrub.  And it's finally time- there are a few color correctors for foundation- a pure yellow, and a green that's good for more olive skin tones, and if a foundation looks "too pink".

Sooo I've been seeing some pretty cool new things on some beauty sites- and I'm thinking it may be time to do another round of dupes.  I'm putting in a MAC order sometime this week (when their new MSF blushes are available), and I'll do a Sephora haul too!  If there's something that you've been coveting just let me know and I'll give it a whirl.  It's going to take me a few weeks- in the mean time I'll be making a few cool gumballs to tide you over.  Next up is serums- so if you have specific needs- let me know and I'll work on it!

Sometimes people ask how we come up with all of the names for the products.  Sometimes they're puns, sometimes they're just descriptive of the color- but a lot, and I mean a lot come from songs.  We always have Pandora on at the shop and if a cool song comes on I write down the name and try to make a color that goes with it- or if I'm stuck for a name I take the first song that comes on.

This contest is hard- but I think you'll have fun with it!  The sound file has 12 song clips- each of them are Silk Naturals product names.  Get them all correct, and you get a $5 gift certificate!  If we don't get a lot of winners (it's really hard) I reserve the right to add a small margin of error- so definitely guess and enter even if you're not 100% sure which obscure classic rock song I dug up for the contest.
