Holiday part 2...and some more fun!

The ghost of Rod Serling has been behaving himself, and things are running smoothly again. Thank you all for your support. You are all kind, wonderful, helpful, smart, and very funny women. You make going to work every day a lot of fun, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. In a time of corporate anonymity you all seem to remember that there are people behind the emails, and the products, and you treat us so kindly. It's time for a little more customer appreciation!

For the past 2 weeks we've been including little blue tickets in your orders- they're raffle tickets! We drew numbers based on the number of orders we had- one in 20 was a winner!

That contest is over...if you don't have any of those numbers you can toss your ticket. For the next two weeks we'll be doing random refunds! At the end of each shipping day we'll use the random number generator at random.org to pick some order numbers. If your number is chosen we'll send you a Paypal refund for the amount of your order! That's it...just order, and you're already entered in the contest. Your odds of winning are 1 in 30.

And- by popular demand we've started a little club so you can get the GWP items without ordering. It's called the mystery adventure club, and for $39.95 ($42.95 international) you'll get a total of 12 products (most likely eye shadows, but you never know- and probably some other surprises)- split up into three shipments.

Stick a Fork in Me....and a new milestone!

I'm done!!! With the Holiday collection. I love love love what I do- it's about as much fun as a job gets- but this collection was an uphill battle every single day. The latest snafu was the site just totally decided to behave itself in any sort of civilzed or predictable way- at about 2:00 this morning. I'm not adding anything else to the site for at least the next couple of weeks. There's a backlog of IOU's and even a couple of things that haven't made it to the site for no particular reason- but I'm stopping here. For now. I don't want to jinx it, or mess anything else up- it's not my week, and I'm packing it in. This is kind of an abbreviated Holiday collection. They almost always are- ideas flow fast, but time moves faster, and there comes a point where you just have to put it on the site, and take it from there.

I have a biiiig list of IOU products and colors- and I'm not ignoring you- I love your requests and the fresh challenges you bring to me every day. It's just sometimes with some things I'd rather take a little bit of extra time to get things right. You deserve that.

With that- we have passed a new milestone- Silk Naturals is 3 years old today! Back then we weren't even Silk Naturals- we weren't even a "we"- it was me, making Perfecting Powder on my kitchen table, and then selling it on eBay- adding Date Bait doubled the line....it was our big Holiday release that year. Today we just added our 1000th product to the site!

This totally calls for a celebration! We'll be tucking little gifty Thank You's into each package through the holiday season. Fun, neat, little interesting things- just as a way to say Thank you for all of your support, wisdom, and encouragement. It means a lot to us.

On behalf of Susan, Jamie, and Jen- THANK YOU for everything!

Just a quick note...we will be closed Thursday and Friday to celebrate Thanksgiving. We'll ship on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week- and then we'll be back to our regular schedule of shipping every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The new GWP started shipping on Friday- I'm thinking we'll have a new GWP after shipping on Wednesday so we start Monday's shipping with a new color. That seems to make the most sense right now.

After a very long afternoon of having absolutely no Internet access- I'm finally back online. Our web service got restored about an hour ago. It was a major setback in listing the new collection, but I'm going to try to power through it this weekend, and make sure everything is online ASAP. Holiday collections are always jinxy for us- everything that normally runs beautifully and smoothly- just goes poof. We'll get there, and thank you for bearing with us.

A New Contest!

Hi! It's been a while since I've blogged...things are a bit crazy here, as usual, but even more so because we're getting ready to release the holiday collection, and I had a stupid cold for like 2 weeks. But all is well! We're plugging away on all of the new stuff- and it's going to be a lot of fun! I have no idea when they'll be on the site- I'm aiming for late this week, but really, I have no earthly clue.

It's kind of becoming a tradition to have a little contest before we release the a new collection. We're back to "Name that Tune" SN style- this is the (mostly) 70's, 80's, and 90's edition.

There are a total of 13 songs- one of them doesn't belong- it's a stumper- the rest all have the names of SN products in their titles. They're all current products, on our site right now, oh, and one of the 13 is a TV theme song. So you're looking for a total of 12 songs that relate to SN products. These "name that tune" contests are NOT easy...we'll probably add a margin of error- so take a stab at it, and do your best.

EDIT- I didn't count right when I originally posted...the numbers above are now correct. I'm sorry for driving you all a bit crazier!

EDIT again- I forgot that I'm a complete music dork...I know odd, and obscure lyrics from a lot of songs- coming from a family of musicians kind of does that to a girl. One hint- the third from the last song was on the US pop charts the last time the NY Mets won a World Series.

WooHoooo! Winners Galore

Happy Wednesday! Just one more day of "freedom" until I get locked up to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association. What really impresses me about them is the range of people that they help...from kids all the way up to adults. If you've ever had a loved-one with any sort of illness you know how much even a little bit of support from your friends, and community means, and MDA does great work. They help with wheelchairs, and medical equipment- they have special summer camps where kids with MD can go and feel somewhat "normal", and they do tons and tons of research on a lot of neuro muscular diseases.

Donating is easy! Click here to donate to a wonderful cause. I made a special batch of "Bad Girl" lip balm with a pretty spiffy leopard print label- it's strawberry flavored, and we'll tuck a tube in your next order for free!

A New Contest for Fall!!!

When I asked our forum girls what they wanted for Fall...they said "a contest". Yes! We love contests here at SN- they're fun for us, and they're fun for you too.

Given that it's country fair time (demo derby tonight...can't wait) I thought we'd dust off a classic carnival game...guess the weight.

This is Bitsy our 5-month old Boston Terrier. When we got her she weighed 3.5 pounds- just a tiny, cute little puppy. She's starting to come into her own, and looooves her puppy kibble. Oh, and lip gloss. She loves lip balm. If she sees me with it she'll actually sit pretty and beg for a little taste. If she finds a tube- she steals it, and runs to hide it. I've hidden my stash a bit better now that I know we both have a deep love for lippies.

So the contest is Guess Bitsy's weight. I weighed her this morning on our digital bathroom scale, and know it down to 1/10 of a pound. If you can guess her weight you get a $10 gift certificate to Silk Naturals. We'll award prizes to everyone who gets it right, and add a margin of error if no one guesses it on the nose.

Now is also a good time to put in your color requests for the Fall collection...so if you have a color that you MUST have just put it in an email or post it on our forum.

Happy Friday!!! It's been one thing after another this week- 2 days without power- Monday it was the electric company's fault, on Wednesday we blew a breaker, and now we have no web site. When it rains it pours- and I'm ready to pour myself a big glass of something.

I figured- let's turn this web site outage into a contest. If anyone can guess the correct time our site will be back up and running you'll win a $10 gift certificate! I'm not sure what time zone our server is situated in...so let's say that the exact time will be posted as Eastern Standard Time- UTC minus 5.

The hosting company just emailed me and apparently they said it will be back online by 21:30 this evening. Not happy- but sometimes things just plain break, and take time to get fixed. I'm sorry about this...I'm going through SN forum withdrawls myself- I miss you!
